Art in Public Places is dedicated to enhancing the Longmont landscape by providing a diverse public art collection. Walk, bike or drive around town to appreciate each of the 75+ pieces of permanent artwork that dot our city with color, surprise and uniqueness. Longmont’s Art in Public Places Program is funded through a one percent levy on most capital improvement projects of more than $50,000.

The Shock Art program, introduced in 2011, provides funds to decorate switchgear boxes throughout Longmont in conjunction with Longmont Power and Communications. Local artists submit scaled-down designs, which are voted on by the public. The artists submitting the winning designs are commissioned to paint boxes in pre-selected locations.

Art on the Move, which debuted in 2005, allows local artists to create temporary art installations featured around town. For a complete map of art installations, consult the City of Longmont Bike Map.
