Centennial State Ballet (CSB) is proud to present Giselle for its’ spring Gala Performance. Giselle debuted in the Romantic era and was first performed by the Ballet du Théâtre de l’Académie Royale de Musique at the Salle Le Peletier in Paris, France in 1841. The ballet tells the story of a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. The Wilis, a group of ghostly women who entrance men to dance until death, summon Giselle from her grave. They target her lover for death, but Giselle’s great love frees him from their grasp. Choreography by Stephanie Tuley, after Petipa, and composed by Adolphe Adam. Musical accompaniment features the Centennial State Ballet Chamber Orchestra at Niwot High School Auditorium. Audiences of all ages will be entranced by the artistry of the Centennial State Ballet performers.
The Longmont Dance Theatre Academy is home to the Pre-Collegiate Ballet Intensive Program (PBIP) and is also the training ground for CSB performers. Students in the PBIP program receive superior instruction in ballet, pointe, variations, modern, and related disciplines. The students also have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year that serve the Boulder County community.
Centennial State Ballet celebrates their 19th Performance Season in 2016-2017, titled The Season of Magic. CSB is proud to be a part of the Longmont Arts Community. Giselle represents the final performance of the 2016-2017 Season for the organization. The vision of Centennial State Ballet is to provide live ballet performances to the community. CSB maintains operations as a non-profit organization via local business sponsors and individual donors, ticket sales from performances, and various fundraisers throughout the year.

Shanna in a Dress is a smashing combination of clever lyrics, sweet serenade, and tongue twisting rhymes. She has been performing since her days at the University of Virginia where she attracted a loyal following of fans that loved her feel-good humor, catchy melodies, and entertaining stage presence. Shanna is a diverse songwriter with a playful setlist containing material ranging from sunny toe-tapping tunes to intensely emotional ballads to humorous ear candy. Her lyrics are laden with clever wordplay and are relatable across all ages.
Shanna released her first EP More Than Just a Hoar in 2012 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Her style is often compared to Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz. She doesn’t take herself too seriously off-stage or on, and her self-reported style is “happy folk pop with a twist of humor, sarcasm, and occasional tears.” Shanna moved to Boulder in 2014 and is excited to connect and share with the local music scene!
“Everyone has a personal struggle. To find peace in the struggle is the elusive dream we are all chasing. We have to keep chasing it. We have to live inside of the chasing. We have to become the chasing. We have to conquer the fear. The chasing is all that matters. We are the chasing.”
