The DARKROOM Sponsors National Photography Competition This Spring

The DARKROOM, an art gallery located in downtown Longmont, is sponsoring a photography competition awarding a $1,000 cash prize for first place winner, honorable mentions and an exhibition to open on June 8, 2017.

The theme for the competition is ‘Humanity,’ and nationwide entries will be accepted from now until April 28, 2017. The Executive Juror for the competition is award-winning documentary and fine art photographer, Maureen Ruddy Burkhart, and co-juror is Owner/Curator of The DARKROOM, Julie Cardinal.

This National photography contest invites artists to seek and capture the moments that reveal the enduring spirit, endless contrast and the very depth and breadth of ‘Humanity’. Cardinal further explains, “Bring us your view of the human experience and the human effect, at the highest of peaks and most profound valleys.”

The DARKROOM is located at 600 Longs Peak Ave., inside Bin 46 Wine Bar & Restaurant. The gallery is owned by Colorado photographer and art-lover Julie Cardinal. She is thrilled to feature the work of talented fine art photographers, some of whom have national and international reputations.  She also looks forward to uncovering and showcasing lesser-known talents, just waiting to be discovered.
