Centennial State Ballet will perform Giselle, a story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and magic, on April 22 and 23 at Niwot High School Auditorium.
Centennial State Ballet (CSB) closes their 19th season with Giselle, their Spring Gala performance. Giselle is a two-act, romantic ballet that follows the story of Giselle, a peasant girl who falls in love with a prince and dies of a broken heart after discovering he is betrothed to another. Giselle is summoned by the supernatural from her grave to enact revenge in Act Two. With a moving score by Adolphe Adam, Stephanie Tuley’s choreography will send your heart soaring.
CSB, Longmont’s youth ballet company, performs under the direction of Executive Artistic Director Kristin Kingsley and Ballet Mistress Stephanie Tuley. Accompaniment will feature the CSB Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Rick Thomas.
The Longmont Dance Theatre Academy (LDTA) is home to the Pre-Collegiate Ballet Intensive Program (PBIP), the training ground for CSB performers. Students in the PBIP program receive superior instruction in ballet, pointe, variations, modern, and related disciplines. The students also have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year that serve the Boulder County, Colorado community. Many of the principal roles in the performance will be filled by students in the PBIP program at LDTA.
Giselle represents the final performance of the 2016-2017 season for the organization. The mission of Centennial State Ballet is to provide live ballet performances for the community. CSB maintains operations as a non-profit organization via local business sponsors and individual donors, ticket sales from performances and various fundraisers throughout the year.
Performances of Giselle will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. and on Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at the Niwot High School Auditorium, 8989 Niwot Rd.
