Block Party in Downtown Longmont Offers Fun for Everyone

Join in the fun at the all-new Downtown Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1-6 p.m. There will be fun for everyone and a chance to explore the whole Downtown District. You’ll enjoy activities and entertainment throughout the breezeways, alleys, sidewalks and businesses.  Come on Down(town) and join the Party! The day will feature:

The Amazing Race, sponsored by Longmont United Hospital

2 – 4:30 p.m. (Check-in starts at 1:30 p.m.)
Teams of two will race on foot through the Downtown Creative District competing in different challenges at businesses throughout the district. Challenges will include a water balloon toss, book search and yoga exercises. The cost is $30 per team and each team member will receive a race T-shirt, participation prize and a chance to win a $250 downtown gift card for the first place finishers! OUR Center Pancake Breakfast

8-10 a.m. OUR Center, 220 Collyer St.
Enjoy  pancakes, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee benefiting the OUR Center, a local non-profit offering a hand-up to prevent homelessness, maintain work and performance in schools, and enhance family and individual potential. Downtown Scavenger Hunt

1-6 p.m.
Join this free, family-friendly search of fun items throughout the Downtown Creative District. No registration required – just head downtown and grab your clue packet. Once your search is complete, return your packet for a chance to win a Downtown Gift Card!

Community Music Stage

1-6 p.m.
Local musicians will take the stage throughout the event in the 300 East alleyway.

Fashion & Hair Show

2-4:30 p.m.
Join local hair salons, barbershops and businesses as they model fun, fashion trends and hairstyles in this showcase of downtown businesses. The runway will be located on 5th Avenue between Main and Coffman Streets.

Health & Wellness Treatments

1-6 p.m.
Treat yourself to a mind, body and spirit session with one of downtown’s many practitioners who will be offering discounted treatments in the 400 west breezeway.

Music Around Town

1-6 p.m.
Musicians off all styles will be performing throughout the Creative District including the Longmont Symphony and Longmont Chorale performing in St. Stephen’s Plaza.


1-6 p.m.
Scattered throughout alleys and breezeways, enjoy kid-friendly inflatable bounce houses and other fun provided by Dizzy Family Fun Center for just $5/wristband. There will also be a life-sized chess board set up for you to try your skill.


1-6 p.m.
Artists’ demonstrations and activities will take place throughout the afternoon. Specifically, check out the Artisan Market hosted by Yore in the 300 west alleyway, the Chalk Art Festival preview at the Firehouse Art Center, 667 4th Ave., and the dance performances from seven local studios, brought to you by Dance Dimensions, on Longs Peak Avenue between Main and Coffman Streets.

Enjoy live performances throughout the district from local theater troupes.

Street Performers

1-6 p.m.

Jugglers, magicians and minions, oh my! Entertainers will wander through the district performing fantastic feats. Make sure to stop by the Xfinity offices, 434 Kimbark St., to meet the small, yellow, overall-wearing, goggle-eyed stars of the Despicable Me franchise.

Downtown businesses will be offering special discounts, promotions and offers throughout the Block Party. Click here for the most up-to-date information about participating locations.

Parking during the Block Party is available at any of the public parking lots located off Kimbark Street and Coffman Street between 2nd and 6th Avenues. Adjacent on-street parking is also available throughout downtown. See the downtown parking map here. Main Street will remain open during the event. The only scheduled street closures are 5th Avenue (Main Street to Coffman) and Longs Peak Avenue (Main Street to Coffman), both west of Main Street.
